MAJORCAN GREEN by PETER ROBINSON
Without needing to see the title, this image screams “Mediterranean” at you immediately. For me, it is defined as “Mediterranean” primarily by the quality of the light (even though the sun is not shining, or the area is in shadow), but also by the tiles and colours. The green of the window stands out against the softer pastel colours of the wall and tiles. The composition is almost perfectly symmetrical. I did open a copy to edit, to see if I could crop it to cut the left and right end tiles off at the same point, but this took the window off centre – which I feel it needs to be. It’s a very satisfying image, which certainly evokes the feeling of “being there”. I should also add that it is obvious immediately that it is one of Peter’s images!
