SPACE IN BLACKPOOL by TIM FEARON
I have selected Tim’s striking photo of Blackpool. It really has an infra red photo quality about it (especially the wispy clouds and the pure white tones) and I love the way the lines converge to the centre, with Blackpool Tower prominent in that central position. It’s black lattice appearance draws you in and your eye then moves naturally to the white big wheel just to the left of the Tower. A simple photo but containing a lot of absorbing detail. My only suggestion would be that the diagonal lines leading in from the bottom / corners could be made more prominent with contrast. Also, the railings and buildings on the right centre would benefit from similar treatment, contrasting black railings with white buildings (as with the contrasting black and white appearance of the pier on the left of the photo).
