WINTER’S MORNING SUN by GRAHAM WOOD

Sadly, I was away for Alistair How’s talk in December so couldn’t assess whether his ideas were evident in the gallery. Scanning the gallery, my eye was first drawn to Elaine’s Tarn Hows. Having been there in winter, I commend her for capturing the low sunlight, mirror like water and lack of people! There were also many other well captured land, sea and city ‘scapes.
My favourite trees are Cedar of Lebanon and Scots Pine, the latter appearing in both Harry and Graham’s pictures. Because of its symmetry, unusual view of Ingleborough and the interest added by the limestone pavement my overall favourite was Graham’s “Winter’s Morning Sun”. It would be great to see this shot repeated with snow on the summit. I think I see a tarmac road on the extreme right of the shot so the spot should be accessible in poor weather.
