GEOTHERMAL ENERGY, ICELAND by JANE GRAHAM
Choosing the image of the month is not an easy task! Is it the picture you would put on your wall? Is the most technically ‘correct’ image? Is it the one that tells a story, or maybe the one you wish you had taken? This month, having pondered over several well composed and executed possibilities, I finally selected Jane Graham’s super image. An extra bonus is that it is from a relatively new SPG member, and it may encourage others to submit their photos.
Unfortunately, Jane Graham was not present at the meeting to tell us about her Icelandic image featuring geothermal energy production. I find the contrast of the gleaming industrial buildings and the rugged, volcanic terrain attention-grabbing, with the plumes of escaping steam increasing the level of interest. The image fulfils the Industrialscape brief but in a somewhat unexpected setting!
