A SIMPLE LIFE by CAITLIN HAMPSON

I have picked Caitlin’s “A Simple Life” as the image that best depicts Solitude for me, an inhabited space for meditation and inspiration. While there is no person in the picture, the small tents standing alone in a vast landscape speak to the presence of someone in this place. The scene is tranquil with the colour in the high clouds providing a sense of warmth and comfort to those below. The tents blend seamlessly into the landscape with their shapes mirroring the hills in the background. They also appear to be pitched on the edge of something, we don’t quite know what, adding some intrigue to the image. The layers in the image of colours, landforms and clouds add to the complexity of the scene and enjoyment of the image.
