THE LANGDALES FROM CLAIFE HEIGHTS by GILL PINKERTON
My selection for this month’s Picture of the Month is Gill Pinkerton’s shot of the Langdale Pikes. I find this to be a thoroughly pleasing and well-balanced composition, portraying a scene of beauty and majesty. The lighting and colours are excellent and all parts of the picture, including the sky, are full of interest and detail. I particularly like the dappled sunlight on the Langdale Pikes, which lifts this out of the ordinary. This result has been achieved without any of the trendy gimmicks favoured by some, giving the picture a truly natural and restful feel. This is very much a picture to “hang on the wall”. If only there was a railway running through this location!
Congratulations, Gill.
