SNOWY INGLETON by ANDY BEST
This month’s gallery pushed almost all of us out of our comfort zones and what a varied array of images were produced using all kinds of techniques and tools! Many people acknowledged it was the first time they had tried this or that technique, and many used controls on their cameras that were new to them. A great learning experience for anyone who gave it a go. I very much liked Jane’s image combining iconic symbols of Venice. Clear sharp images and a wonderful sinuous composition of shapes. However, after much thought, my favourite was Andy’s Snowy Ingleton. The two images were composed and overlaid in a really skilful way with great consideration given to the intended final image. With both images tonally similar in beautiful soft almost pastel colours, the final image has a calming serene mood that is really pleasing. And within the image finer details of the walls, the scrubby bush, the field walls and so on gradually ‘emerge’ the more closely you look. I’d happily have it hanging on a wall in my house.
