PATTERNS FROM THE PAST by MARGARET SMITH

Choosing Picture of the Month from the Pattern Gallery was an interesting exercise. In the end, I chose ‘Patterns from the past’. The river-rounded pebbles that form a symmetrical pattern on the floor of the stream contain patterns in rugose corals formed during their growth. The image has also captured lovely textures in the water including surface waves and patterns formed by caustics. In summary, an excellently executed and imaginative image that fitted the brief perfectly.
