FINISHING TOUCHES by TIM FEARON
Choosing just one image from the array of outstanding entries in the open gallery is never easy—especially when the submissions span such a rich variety of genres, including still life, wildlife, and landscape photography.
What made this selection particularly enjoyable for me was the diversity and creativity on display. Several images really stood out: Brian Blinkhorn’s Hiding in the Shadows – a striking capture with superb use of light; Peter Robinson’s Jug and Vase – a beautifully composed classic piece; Edwin Howson’s Fireworks over Blackpool – full of colour and energy; John Cooper-Smith’s Thundering Bahamas – full of nostalgia and power; and Tim Fearon’s image of a Kingfisher mural being painted on a building in Bentham – a truly unique moment.
Out of all these strong images, my choice for Picture of the Month is Tim Fearon’s image of the Kingfisher mural in progress. The composition is spot on – the positioning of the ladder, the artist mid-action, and the subtle but powerful inclusion of his shadow — all come together perfectly.
It’s a wonderful example of being in the right place at the right time and having the eye to capture it. Well done, Tim!
